Expert praises Morocco’s proactive role in managing migration flows

Morocco’s strategic leadership in African migration control

In a recent analysis from Washington, Mohamed Daadaoui, a prominent Maroco-American scholar and expert, highlighted the pivotal role played by the Moroccan Kingdom in preventing and regulating irregular migration. The academic underscored the country’s reputation as a regional “responsible actor” and a globally trusted partner, driven by an advanced, internationally recognized preventive migration strategy.

Bilateral cooperation strengthens migration management

The expert emphasized the seamless coordination between Morocco and Spain, particularly in dismantling human trafficking networks and executing complex rescue operations at sea. Yet he cautioned against over-reliance on a single nation’s efforts. “While Morocco excels in securing its borders, it cannot single-handedly address the deep-rooted issue of irregular migration,” Daadaoui noted, stressing that transcontinental migration challenges demand shared responsibility.

Call for deeper European-Moroccan collaboration

Daadaoui concluded by urging European policymakers to shift their approach by prioritizing the socio-economic drivers behind migration. He argued that sustainable Mediterranean migration policies hinge on stronger collaboration with Morocco. “Effective migration governance in the region is fundamentally tied to a robust partnership with Morocco as a dependable and credible ally,” he emphasized.
