French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu landed in Rabat Wednesday evening for a two-day official visit to strengthen the strategic partnership between France and Morocco amid growing diplomatic rapprochement.

Welcomed by Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, Lecornu arrived with a delegation of twelve French ministers. This visit follows a period of fluctuating relations between Paris and Rabat, as both countries seek to deepen cooperation.

During his stay, Lecornu and Akhannouch will hold a bilateral meeting before co-chairing the 15th Franco-Moroccan High-Level Meeting. This longstanding political and economic dialogue framework had not convened since 2019.

Discussions will focus on enhancing economic exchanges, promoting cross-border investments, strengthening security and defense cooperation, and addressing key issues such as energy, infrastructure development, and ecological transition.

French and Moroccan authorities anticipate the signing of around fifteen agreements during this visit.

These agreements will cover civil aviation, water management, strategic infrastructure, electric interconnection, security cooperation, and multiple cultural projects.

In the cultural sphere, the two nations will formalize a strategic partnership between the Arab World Institute in Paris and Morocco’s Ministry of Culture. This collaboration aims to bolster artistic, heritage, and academic exchanges between the countries.
