Gabon strengthens national security with modern B2 annex inauguration

On August 13, 2026, Gabon’s Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, led the inauguration of a state-of-the-art annex building for the Directorate General for Counter-Intelligence and Military Security (DGCISM), affectionately known as the « B2 ». Located in the Bellevue 1 district of Libreville’s 3rd arrondissement, this cutting-edge facility represents a significant leap forward in enhancing the nation’s intelligence and military defense capabilities.

The launch of this new infrastructure aligns with a broader government initiative to equip public agencies with high-performance operational tools. Spanning three floors and covering 900 square meters, the building was meticulously designed to meet the strictest standards of confidentiality and operational security.

The layout of the facility was carefully planned to streamline internal coordination. The ground floor hosts the Judicial Investigations Division, the first floor is dedicated to the Military Security Directorate, and the second floor accommodates the General Directorate’s offices.

Military leadership praises modernization push

Addressing a gathering of civilian and military dignitaries, DGCISM Director General Colonel Joseph Ondo Be conveyed heartfelt appreciation from the agency’s personnel to the President. He described the new building as a « strategic asset », emphasizing its transformative impact on operational conditions for security personnel.

While committing to responsible management of this resource, the B2 chief outlined future priorities: renovating the main headquarters, upgrading provincial outposts, and replacing the fleet of vehicles used by the agency.

Renewed pledge to national service

A defining moment of the ceremony saw DGCISM personnel take a solemn oath reaffirming their loyalty to Gabon’s institutions.
