New regulations for urban transport in Kétou
Motorcycle taxi operators in Kétou will soon be required to wear official uniforms while working. This initiative, launched by the local administration, begins with a mandatory registration phase aimed at professionalizing the sector and enhancing public safety.
The new policy applies to all six districts within the municipality of Bénin. By standardizing the appearance of drivers, officials intend to make identification easier for passengers and improve the overall organization of the city’s transport network.
Registration and compliance deadlines
To facilitate the transition, an enrollment campaign will take place from July 6 to July 20, 2026. Drivers are instructed to visit their respective district administrative offices with valid identification to complete their registration. This step is essential for obtaining the required official uniform.
Once the enrollment period concludes, strictly only registered drivers in full uniform will be authorized to provide transport services. The municipality has made it clear that any operator failing to comply with these new standards will be subject to the penalties defined by current regulations.
Local authorities are also calling on the public to cooperate by choosing only officially identified motorcycle taxis. Security agencies, district heads, and transport associations have been mobilized to ensure the rules are strictly followed throughout the commune.
