The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has begun unveiling the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 schedule, offering fans a first glimpse at the season’s early clashes. As the curtain rises on the new campaign, Paris Saint-Germain and Paris FC have secured their opening-day assignments, with both sides set to face high-stakes encounters in the weeks ahead.
The reigning champions, Paris Saint-Germain, will kick off their title defense at home against Stade Rennais during the weekend of August 21-23. This early showdown at the Parc des Princes promises to set the tone for a demanding start to the season, as Luis Enrique’s side faces a trio of tough tests in their first three league outings. A trip to Lille follows, before hosting AS Monaco at home in matchday three.
The stakes only grow higher in their fifth fixture, when Paris Saint-Germain travels to Olympique de Marseille for the season’s first Classique. This pivotal encounter is scheduled for September 20, a Sunday showdown that will test the mettle of both squads ahead of the international break. The return leg at the Parc des Princes is slated for February 7, 2027, ensuring a fiery chapter in this storied rivalry.
Paris FC’s early-season roadmap
Paris FC, the capital’s other Ligue 1 representative, enjoys a slightly more favorable start to the season. Antoine Kombouaré’s side will open their campaign with a trip to newly promoted ES Troyes AC on the first matchday. A quick return to the Stade Jean-Bouin follows, where they will host OGC Nice in a bid to build early momentum.
The challenges intensify in subsequent weeks, with back-to-back away assignments against Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais, followed by a home clash with RC Strasbourg. These fixtures underscore the demanding nature of Ligue 1’s opening stretch, where every point counts in the race for survival and continental qualification.
