The newly appointed president of the Autorité de régulation des transports ferroviaires (ARTF) formally assumed his duties during a handover ceremony held in Owendo, succeeding François Banga Eboumi.
Former Minister of Housing Ludovic Megne Ndong now heads the regulatory council with a mandate to support the implementation of the institution’s revised strategic directions. He specifically stated his intention to enforce the provisions of the ordinance that restructures ARTF operations.
He also aims to strengthen dialogue with social partners and agency staff to improve the authority’s functioning and working conditions. Key initiatives announced include redeploying inspection teams and resuming audits along the Transgabonais railway corridor, which runs between Owendo and Franceville.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Reform and Relations with Institutions, François Ndong Obiang, and the ARTF Executive Secretary, Adrien Moukabi. This appointment comes amid several ongoing reforms in the railway sector.
