Ousmane Sonko poised to challenge Al Aminou Lo’s government with no-confidence motion

Ousmane Sonko has issued a firm warning, stating his intention to initiate a no-confidence motion against the current government. Speaking at a gathering in Touba, the leader of PASTEF made it unequivocally clear that his party stands ready to employ this parliamentary mechanism to challenge practices deemed unacceptable.
During a recent assembly in Touba, part of PASTEF’s 48-hour event, Ousmane Sonko explicitly raised the prospect of a no-confidence vote targeting the administration led by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. The prominent PASTEF figure cautioned that his party would not hesitate to activate this legislative tool if the government’s current trajectory persists.
“We will utilize every legal avenue at our disposal, including a no-confidence motion, to bring down the government, and we will do so as many times as necessary,” Ousmane Sonko declared to his party’s supporters. The PASTEF president justified this stance by asserting that his political movement cannot condone actions that contradict the fundamental principles for which its activists have tirelessly struggled.
“We have fought for a decade, enduring sacrifices and losing martyrs. We will not allow such practices to take root,” he emphasized. Through this powerful statement, Ousmane Sonko positions the no-confidence motion as a central element of his political strategy against the government. He considers this parliamentary recourse a legitimate means to oppose decisions he disapproves of, affirming PASTEF’s readiness to deploy it whenever circumstances demand.
