Tchad: AMGT strategic documents validated to boost N'Djamena's growth

N’Djamena witnessed a pivotal moment this week as municipal leaders, technical experts, and development specialists gathered to validate the strategic frameworks of the Municipal Agency of Major Works (AMGT).

The opening ceremony, held at the Radisson Blu hotel, brought together municipal directors, administrative officials, and consultants from the Center for Innovation and Development (CID). Mayor Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye delivered the keynote address, reflecting on the agency’s founding council meeting held months earlier. That initial gathering, he noted, laid the groundwork for understanding the agency’s mission and fostering collaboration among its leadership.

The AMGT was established to empower the city in designing, planning, funding, and executing critical projects that align with public needs and the capital’s long-term development vision. As Mayor Abdoulaye emphasized, the agency is poised to tackle pressing challenges—rapid urbanization, population growth, infrastructure gaps, sanitation deficits, and climate resilience—by delivering the essential infrastructure and facilities required for balanced urban progress.

Urging participants to engage actively, the mayor stressed that their input would refine the agency’s institutional foundations and ensure its future effectiveness. He highlighted that success hinges on robust organizational structures, transparent governance, and rigorous management processes.

The validated documents include:

  • Administrative, financial, and accounting management manual: A framework to streamline resource management and performance tracking.
  • Monitoring and evaluation manual: A tool to enhance operational efficiency and accountability.
  • Environmental, social, and gender management framework: A guide ensuring sustainable, inclusive, and equitable development practices across all AMGT initiatives.
