Adrien Haye, outgoing director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Côte d’Ivoire, was honored with a national distinction today for his exceptional contributions to the country’s economic progress. The recognition ceremony took place at the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Budget in Abidjan, where the Minister, Adama Coulibaly, presented him with the award on behalf of President Alassane Ouattara and Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé.
Attended by France’s ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Jean-Christophe Belliard, and AFD staff, the event celebrated Haye’s four-year tenure during which he played a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral cooperation between France and Côte d’Ivoire.
Key achievements during his mandate
During his leadership, Adrien Haye spearheaded efforts to identify and implement vital development projects across multiple sectors. His initiatives included mobilizing 934 million euros (approximately 623 billion FCFA) through sovereign loans and funds from the Debt Reduction and Development Contract (C2D). This financial support significantly bolstered Côte d’Ivoire’s macroeconomic stability.
Additionally, five new sovereign loan agreements totaling nearly 500 million euros (around 330 billion FCFA) were signed under his guidance. These agreements, alongside the third C2D’s allocation, aligned with the National Development Plan (PND) 2021–2025, reinforcing AFD’s position as Côte d’Ivoire’s top bilateral partner.

Deeply moved by the honor, Adrien Haye expressed his heartfelt thanks to Ivorian authorities. Reflecting on his tenure, he emphasized his unwavering dedication to the country’s growth. “I am proud of the progress we’ve achieved together, and I will continue to advocate for Côte d’Ivoire’s development,” he stated.
The decoration underscores the success of the AFD’s collaboration with Ivorian institutions, particularly in driving economic and social advancements through targeted financing initiatives.
