Taxawu Sénégal’s founding congress: Aïssata Tall Sall’s call for united opposition
During the inaugural convention of the Taxawu Sénégal party led by Khalifa Sall, former minister Aïssata Tall Sall delivered a powerful political address, sharply criticizing the current government while urging opponents to strengthen their strategy and unity. Her remarks, both bold and strategic, positioned her as a key voice in Senegal’s evolving political landscape.
The veteran politician didn’t hold back in her critique of the ruling regime. Addressing authorities directly, she stated:
« These individuals claimed, ‘You are not in power.’ From this very declaration, it’s clear they lack legitimacy and respect for democratic principles. They are not rulers by right—they are impostors. »
Beyond mere condemnation, Aïssata Tall Sall emphasized the critical importance of political organization and resilience. With unwavering conviction, she declared:
« Stand tall, always with your head held high. Courage is essential, and you possess it in abundance. Intelligence is our strength, and we wield it wisely. However, strategy is the cornerstone of success in politics—and for Senegal, a well-crafted strategy is non-negotiable. »
Roadmap to political change: elections as turning points
Looking ahead to Senegal’s electoral calendar, she outlined a phased approach to demonstrating the opposition’s growing influence:
- Following local elections, the opposition will showcase its momentum.
- After legislative elections, the movement will intensify its presence.
- As presidential elections approach, the opposition will consolidate its position to secure decisive change.
She concluded with a rallying cry to activists, affirming their collective strength:
« I wish you strength, surround you with our prayers, and reassure you: you are exactly where you belong, shoulder to shoulder with your comrades. Together, we will march forward—and seize this power that rightfully belongs to the people. »
Her speech underscored the urgency of unity, strategy, and perseverance in the face of political challenges, setting the tone for Taxawu Sénégal’s ambitions on the national stage.
