The Green Eagles’ journey to the semifinals was nothing short of dramatic. Trailing after Ivory Coast’s opener from Inès Konan (30′), Algeria found themselves with a numerical advantage when Ivorian star Safi N’Sira Ouedraogo received a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Algerian goalkeeper Chloé N’Gazi (42′).

Algeria equalized just after halftime through Inès Khiri (58′), who had come on as a substitute for Lina Boussaha just minutes earlier (46′). The Elephants of Reynald Pedros had a golden opportunity to retake the lead from the penalty spot, but Rebecca Elloh’s effort hit the post (62′). Algeria capitalized moments later when Amira Ould Braham slotted home after a costly error by Ivorian goalkeeper Aramatou Diakité (64′).

This quarterfinal triumph marks Algeria’s first-ever semifinal appearance in the Women’s CAN.
