Premier League 2026/27: Arsenal and Coventry City face off in opening clash
The English Premier League’s 2026/27 season gets under way with a high-stakes opener on Saturday, highlighted by newly promoted Hull City’s tough assignment against Manchester United. Meanwhile, Everton will host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, and Ipswich Town—another promoted side—takes on Sunderland in their top-flight return. Nottingham Forest welcomes Leeds United to the City Ground, while Brentford locks horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The following day, Sunday 23 August, sees Brighton & Hove Albion—boosted by Maxime De Cuyper—take on Aston Villa, who lift the Europa League trophy and boast Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana in their ranks. Manchester City, still without a permanent manager following Pep Guardiola’s departure, kicks off against Bournemouth. Newcastle United, meanwhile, prepares to face Liverpool at St James’ Park.
The opening weekend concludes on Monday 24 August with the West London derby between Fulham and Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
Among the season’s standout fixtures, the London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea on 5 September promises fireworks as the first major showdown. The Manchester derby between United and City follows a week later. Liverpool hosts United around 21 November, while Arsenal travels to the Etihad Stadium to face last season’s runners-up, Manchester City, on 28 November.
