The government of Bénin has conveyed its full solidarity with the people of Niger following the armed assault on June 18, 2026, near the Diori-Hamani International Airport in Niamey.
In an official statement released from Cotonou, Beninese authorities expressed deep concern over the incident and unequivocally condemned the assault on a critical civilian facility.
« Bénin firmly rejects this violent act targeting a vital infrastructure and jeopardizing civilian lives », the statement declared.
In response to the attack, the Bénin government extended its unwavering support to both the Nigerien population and its leadership, including President Abdourahamane Tiani.
Officials further emphasized the enduring bond of friendship and solidarity between the Bénin and Niger peoples.
