Chad’s President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, recently delivered a firm pledge to confront the enduring challenge posed by Boko Haram. Addressing the nation via social media, he declared, “We will intensify our fight with renewed vigor until this menace is completely eliminated.” His statement followed a deadly assault on a military outpost near Barka Tolorom, situated on the Chadian shoreline of Lake Chad, where jihadist militants linked to the extremist faction struck with devastating force.
