Deadly Boko Haram attack strikes northern Cameroon village

At least eight villagers were killed and one injured in a Boko Haram assault late Friday in the Far North region of Cameroon, local officials reported Saturday.

The vicious night raid struck Kangaleri village, within the Mayo-Sava department, leaving the community shaken and devastated. Six victims died instantly, while three others suffered severe injuries and were rushed for medical care. Tragically, two more succumbed to their wounds by Saturday morning, pushing the provisional death toll to eight. One injured resident remained under treatment, according to local authorities.

As is common in such cowardly attacks, the armed group exploited the cover of darkness to launch the ambush before slipping back across the border. Authorities continue to investigate the full details of the assault and identify all those affected.

Hours later, another Boko Haram raid unfolded in Tourou, a settlement near Mokolo and close to the Nigeria border. Witnesses described how the attackers looted livestock and goods before vandalizing a local market close to Tourou’s town center. No casualties have been reported in this second incident so far.
