The Bâtisseurs de l’Économie Africaine platform unveiled its 20th anniversary awards, celebrating African nations for their public policies and sectoral achievements that drive economic and social progress across the continent.
Groundbreaking recognition for impactful governance
In a special edition celebrating two decades of excellence, the initiative introduced a dedicated category to honor countries demonstrating exceptional progress in strategic sectors through effective public policies. The winners were selected by an independent jury of African experts and journalists, evaluating criteria such as policy impact, economic performance, sectoral advancements, and contributions to African integration.
A diverse lineup of sectoral champions
The awards highlighted outstanding achievements across multiple industries:
- Côte d’Ivoire received recognition for its transformative agricultural policies
- Democratic Republic of Congo was celebrated for its mining sector reforms
- Seychelles stood out in education, vocational training, and employment initiatives
- Morocco was honored for progress in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and environmental sustainability
- Egypt gained attention for its infrastructure development programs
- Kenya was applauded for its technological innovation and artificial intelligence advancements

- Namibia for championing gender equality and women’s empowerment
- Ghana for successfully reintegrating African diaspora communities and promoting regional cohesion
- Morocco received the 20-year special prize for its comprehensive national transformation
The vision behind the awards
Michel Russel Lohoré, founder of the Bâtisseurs de l’Économie Africaine, emphasized that this initiative aims to spotlight not just businesses and economic figures, but the enduring public policies and national strategies that fuel Africa’s economic evolution. The jury, led by international affairs specialist Valentin Mbougueng, relied on international rankings, regional reports, and field expertise to identify the most impactful initiatives.
A grand celebration in Abidjan
The distinguished winners will be formally honored at a gala event marking the platform’s 20th anniversary, scheduled for June 18 in Abidjan. Since its establishment in 2006, the pan-African platform has consistently celebrated economic actors, institutions, and investors who play pivotal roles in the continent’s development journey.
