Mamadi Doumbouya back in Conakry on Monday after state visit to Côte d’Ivoire

Conakry – Guinea’s president, Mamadi Doumbouya, will return to Conakry on Monday, 14 September 2026, following his state visit to Côte d’Ivoire. The announcement was made on Sunday by the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic.

Per the statement, the head of state will arrive in the Guinean capital during the day on Monday. A welcoming ceremony is scheduled for 12:00 at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport.

Several state officials have been invited to attend the president’s reception. These include the president of the National Assembly, the prime minister, heads of republican institutions, government members, as well as senior military and security officials.

Also expected are the chiefs of staff of the various branches of the armed forces, the high commander of the National Gendarmerie, and the directors general of the Police, Customs, and the Corps of Nature Conservators.

Representatives of diplomatic and consular missions, international organizations, and the governor of Conakry are also among the invited dignitaries.

Discussions on Guinean-Ivorian cooperation

Mamadi Doumbouya’s return comes after a state visit to Côte d’Ivoire focused on unity, peace, and pan-Africanism.

During his stay, the Guinean president was notably received by his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara. The two leaders discussed strengthening relations between Conakry and Abidjan.

After their meeting, Alassane Ouattara highlighted the strength of the ties between the two countries. “The bonds between Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea are solid.”

The Ivorian president also outlined the main topics discussed with his Guinean counterpart: “With my brother, President Mamadi Doumbouya, we exchanged on strengthening this historic fraternity, particularly in the economic, political, and security fields.”

This state visit thus allowed both countries to highlight their commitment to consolidating cooperation in several strategic sectors.
