New book reveals 60 years of Chad’s parliamentary history

On May 23, 2026, the blue hall of ONAMA hosted the unveiling of a groundbreaking book titled L’évolution de la vie parlementaire tchadienne de 1960 à 2020, authored by former National Assembly deputy Issa Hassana Adoum.

This meticulously researched 612-page volume, structured into five comprehensive chapters, offers an in-depth exploration of Chad’s parliamentary journey over six transformative decades. From institutional shifts to pivotal challenges and milestones, the book captures the nation’s political evolution since gaining independence in 1960.

Issa Hassana Adoum emphasized that the work represents a significant academic contribution, providing clarity on the country’s political and institutional heritage. Designed as both an essential resource for scholars and students and a reference guide for policymakers and future generations, the book bridges historical gaps with precision.

The author revealed that this publication stems from his doctoral thesis, now accessible in print form. Originally written in Arabic, the book sparked lively discussions during the event. Attendees, including prominent figures, strongly advocated for a full French translation to broaden its reach among wider audiences, including researchers, academics, and general readers.

Following the formal presentation, the ceremony concluded with a book-signing session, where Issa Hassana Adoum personally engaged with attendees, marking the occasion with dedications.
