Psg cools interest in Julian Alvarez as transfer talks stall

Following a second consecutive triumph in the Champions League, PSG is actively seeking to refresh the squad available to Luis Enrique. Among the various targets identified by the club’s leadership, the name of Julian Alvarez had surfaced as a priority. However, the trail leading to the Atlético de Madrid forward appears to have gone cold as the Parisian management reconsidered their position.

This summer transfer window is expected to be a turning point for PSG. The capital club is determined to provide Luis Enrique with fresh options to maintain their dominance after their recent European successes. While Julian Alvarez, currently competing in the 2026 World Cup with Argentina, was high on the shortlist, the Rouge-et-Bleu have reportedly stepped back from negotiations.

Parisian attempts for Julian Alvarez

Efforts were made to determine if the current situation between Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona could create an opening for other suitors. PSG initiated contact, especially as they were already in discussions with the Spanish club regarding the futures of Kang-In Lee and Gonçalo Ramos, both of whom are tipped to leave this summer. Despite these efforts, the Argentine attacker expressed a clear preference for a move to Barcelona, politely declining the Parisian offer.

A cooling track for the capital club

The French champions were not alone in their pursuit, as Arsenal also reached out to both Atlético de Madrid and the player’s representatives. Much like the response given to PSG, the London club was informed of the player’s specific career desires. Consequently, the lead has lost its momentum in Paris. The possibility of seeing Julian Alvarez join the squad now seems very remote, though the final weeks of the window could always bring surprises.
