RDC mining sector challenges: ENA graduates honored for strategic proposals

The Ministry of Mines hosted a significant event at the Pullman Grand Hôtel in Kinshasa to celebrate the conclusion of the BUANYA excellence awards. This initiative, spearheaded by the Minister of Mines, Louis Watum Kabamba, was designed to engage graduates from the École nationale d’Administration (ENA) in addressing the strategic hurdles facing the Congolese mining industry.

The gathering was attended by the Secretary General for Mines, directors of various sector-related agencies, and a specialized jury. Over several weeks, 48 young professionals, organized into six distinct teams, conducted rigorous research and analysis on essential themes. Their work focused on improving mining governance, ensuring resource transparency, and establishing better traceability to combat fraud.

Key topics explored by the participants included the formalization of artisanal mining, geological exploration, and the fair distribution of mining revenues to ensure they benefit the local population through infrastructure and social services. The Minister of Mines pointed out that the RDC holds a vital position in the global energy transition, which carries the responsibility of transforming mineral wealth into a catalyst for national growth.

During the ceremony, the Minister encouraged the award winners to serve as role models for integrity and excellence. He stated that the future of the industry must be anchored in innovation and a strict obligation to deliver results. This program reflects the national vision of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, coordinated by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka, which emphasizes the development of human capital and the strengthening of public governance.

The event concluded with the official announcement of the winning teams and a group photograph, marking a milestone for the integration of young administrative talent into the management of the RDC mining sector.
