Royal Air Maroc launches historic direct flight between Casablanca and Los Angeles

Event. Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco’s national carrier, inaugurated a non-stop route between Casablanca and Los Angeles this Sunday. This new connection marks a historic milestone as the first direct air link between Africa and the Pacific coast of the United States.

The inaugural flight departed from Mohammed V Airport at 04:00, completing a 12-hour direct journey.

The launch coincides with the celebration of 250 years of friendship between Morocco and the United States, as well as the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Atlas Lions are competing.

“Opening this route is a historic milestone for Royal Air Maroc and for Africa’s air connectivity,” said Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of RAM. “By bringing Morocco closer to the U.S. West Coast, we affirm our role and commitment to promoting Morocco on the international stage.”

Three weekly frequencies to boost the Casablanca hub

The new route operates three times a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using next-generation wide-body aircraft. Departures from Casablanca are at 04:00 (arriving at 08:20 local time), while return flights leave California at 10:20 and land the following day at 05:25 in Casablanca.

This expansion is part of the national carrier’s development plan signed with the Moroccan government in July 2023. It aims to strengthen Casablanca’s status as a major air hub between Africa, Europe, and the Americas, while meeting strong demand from the diaspora, tourists, business travelers, and football fans.

With this launch, RAM reinforces its presence in North America, adding to existing direct routes to New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal, and Toronto.
