Sénégal: president Diomaye Faye establishes new political movement

In Sénégal, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has inaugurated a new chapter in the nation’s political landscape, moving beyond the Pastef – Les Patriotes party, which was previously under the leadership of his former colleague and ex-Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. The head of state has officially unveiled his own political formation, named Kiiraay – Les Patriotes républicains.
The name ‘Kiiraay’ holds profound significance, translating to ‘protection’ in the Wolof language. President Diomaye Faye has expressed his intention for this concept of ‘protection’ to serve as a sacred guiding principle, underpinning all his future decisions and actions for the country.
