Senegal’s president launches new political movement with transformative agenda
RFI

Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially inaugurated a fresh political chapter by establishing his own party, distinct from Pastef – Les Patriotes, once led by his former ally and ex-Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. The new movement, named Kiiraay – Les Patriotes républicains, takes its inspiration from the Wolof term kiiraay, meaning ‘protection’. For the Head of State, this principle will guide every policy and decision moving forward.
