The Senegal women’s national team saw their 2026 Africa Cup of Nations campaign come to an abrupt end on Monday evening following a scoreless draw against Morocco at Rabat’s Moulay El Hassan Stadium. The result in Group A’s final fixture confirmed the Lionnes de la Téranga’s early exit from the tournament.

Morocco, already guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals, aimed to maintain their unbeaten status and top the group. Senegal, under head coach Mame Moussa Cissé, required a win to keep their hopes of advancing beyond the group stage alive—something achieved only by finishing in the top two.

The evenly matched encounter saw neither side able to break the deadlock. Morocco, coming off back-to-back victories over Kenya (4-0) and Algeria (1-0) in the group phase, finished the tournament undefeated and as Group A leaders.

For Senegal, the draw capped a turbulent campaign that began with a heavy defeat to Algeria (0-2) before a narrow triumph over Kenya (1-0). Despite the improvement, it was insufficient to progress, marking another disappointment for a team that had set its sights on surpassing the quarterfinals reached in both 2022 and 2024.
