Ouagadougou played host to the 29th edition of the prestigious Galian Awards on June 19, 2026, celebrating Burkina Faso’s finest in journalism. Among the night’s honorees was Sié Frédéric Kambou, a journalist whose investigative work earned him the Special Ministry of Health Prize for Online Press.
This recognition honors his groundbreaking report, “Burkina Faso’s Health Sector Breaks Free from Privilege,” published on December 26, 2025. Through meticulous on-the-ground reporting, Kambou exposed transformative health sector reforms, including slashed medical exam costs and the elimination of dialysis session fees in public hospitals.
