During a significant Pastef rally held this Saturday in Linguère, Ousmane Sonko made his stance unequivocally clear on this hypothetical scenario, simultaneously delivering a stern caution to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
According to the influential leader of Pastef, dissolving the National Assembly and subsequently holding snap legislative elections would prove highly disadvantageous for the current ruling power. He asserted with confidence that his political movement would emerge as the overwhelming victor in such a contest.
“Should he organize local elections, we will defeat him. If he dissolves the Assembly, that outcome would be even worse for him. In fact, that is precisely what we prefer. We will decisively beat him,” Sonko declared to his supporters.
Ousmane Sonko further elaborated, suggesting that the Head of State could face significant political weakening in the aftermath of a potential electoral loss.
“Afterwards, I even fear he might throw in the towel before 2029,” he added, hinting at a premature end to the presidential term.

“I call upon everyone to exercise vigilance and maintain calm. They are currently looking for ways to provoke Pastef so that our youth react, which would then allow them to dissolve the party and revoke its official recognition,” he asserted.
For the Pastef leader, if his militants successfully navigate these provocations and remain steadfastly mobilized, the upcoming electoral contests could easily swing in favor of his movement, which he optimistically characterized as a “mere walk in the park.”
