Togo: CNTS schedules special blood donation drive in Lomé for June 12

In preparation for the 22nd World Blood Donor Day on June 14, 2026, the Centre national de transfusion sanguine (CNTS) is mobilizing residents across the capital city and its outskirts for a vital health initiative.

Centred around the theme “A drop of humanity. Give blood. Save lives,” this upcoming event features a dedicated collection marathon on Friday, June 12, 2026. The drive will be operational from 08:00 to 16:00, providing ample opportunity for citizens to contribute.

Designated collection points in Lomé

To facilitate the process, two specific locations have been prepared to welcome donors:

  • The main offices of the Centre national de transfusion sanguine (CNTS) in Tokoin Doumasséssé, situated across from EPP Doumasséssé 1;
  • The Collection and Distribution Post (PCD) at Tokoin, located within the CHU Sylvanus Olympio complex, directly behind the hemodialysis unit.

A call for civic solidarity to protect lives

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the CNTS to bolster national blood reserves and ensure that healthcare facilities can meet patient needs without delay. The institution is encouraging a massive turnout, reminding the public that a single act of donation can provide a lifeline to several individuals in critical condition.

The Centre national de transfusion sanguine emphasizes that the community is “all united by the gift,” relying on the generosity and civic responsibility of the population to ensure the success of this mission. By participating, donors play a direct role in supporting patients who depend on life-saving transfusions across Togo.
