Romuald Wadagni was officially sworn in as the new President of the Republic of Bénin on May 24, 2026, in a historic ceremony.

Wadagni took office following a private handover with outgoing President Patrice Talon at the Palais de la République (La Marina). The transition proceeded with a private meeting before the public ceremony.

The swearing-in ceremony was held before the Constitutional Court, attended by key political figures from Bénin and delegations from over fifteen foreign countries.

During the oath, President Wadagni pledged to uphold and defend the Constitution, acknowledging the consequences of perjury under the law.
