Bénin’s minister alé inspects key road infrastructure for quality

As part of ongoing oversight for Bénin’s significant national road network modernization initiatives, Georges Alé, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, recently conducted a comprehensive inspection tour across three pivotal construction sites. His field visit primarily centered on ensuring stringent technical standards, robust environmental safeguards, public health considerations, and unwavering adherence to contractual deadlines.

The ministerial delegation’s initial stop led to the Djonou bridge, situated within the Abomey-Calavi commune. At this location, all dredging operations have been successfully finalized. This crucial intervention has effectively cleared the waterway, ensuring improved stormwater drainage and bolstering the structural integrity and safety of the bridge itself.

Subsequently, the Minister proceeded to inspect the 2×2 lane development project along the Missessinto-Allada (RNIE2) section, a significant undertaking managed by the SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP consortium. While acknowledging the satisfactory progress and momentum of the work, Georges Alé underscored the imperative of strictly adhering to the agreed contractual timeline. His aim is to swiftly provide commuters with a modern and secure thoroughfare.

The inspection tour concluded at the Allada roundabout and the associated retention basins established in the vicinity. Demonstrating keen attention to sanitation concerns, the Minister directed technical teams to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health. This proactive partnership aims to anticipate and mitigate any potential public health risks arising from water stagnation.
