Côte d’ivoire and Morocco strengthen ties through royal initiatives

During a productive meeting in Rabat this week, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kacou Adom, reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to supporting Morocco’s royal initiatives aimed at advancing Africa’s development.

«Côte d’Ivoire fully endorses these initiatives and stands ready to collaborate with Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in alignment with His Majesty’s vision,» Kacou Adom stated following his discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

The Ivorian diplomat highlighted the dynamic role of the Moroccan private sector in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth, emphasizing that «Moroccan businesses are actively contributing to the country’s infrastructure and economic development

Both ministers agreed to convene soon to evaluate the progress of the Economic Impetus Group, a joint initiative designed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and unlock new opportunities for both nations.

Nasser Bourita reciprocated with appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s consistent stance on the Sahara issue, calling the country «a steadfast partner and ally in this vital matter for Morocco.» He further noted that «this position has always been met with great respect and appreciation from His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and all sectors of society

«Côte d’Ivoire is not just a strong bilateral partner for Morocco—it is a benchmark for African partnerships,» Bourita remarked, underscoring the depth of the relationship.

He also praised Côte d’Ivoire’s pivotal role in continental initiatives, particularly the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, which His Majesty the King has prioritized. Bourita confirmed that «this project is advancing rapidly toward realization, especially after receiving endorsement from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for the intergovernmental agreement establishing the pipeline

The Rabat meeting underscored the robust political, economic, and regional partnership between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire. From steadfast support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara to deepening bilateral cooperation and embracing transformative pan-African projects, Côte d’Ivoire remains a cornerstone of Morocco’s strategic alliances on the continent.
