N’Djamena hosts pivotal training on digital freight transformation

A landmark training session in Chad’s capital concluded this week, equipping transport officials with cutting-edge digital tools to streamline land freight operations nationwide.

Chad's digital freight transformation training in progress

The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has wrapped up a three-day intensive training program in N’Djamena focused on digitalizing land freight services. The workshop, held at the Kempinski Hotel, brought together inspectors and field agents from across Chad, including participants from Mayo-Kebbi, to explore new digital solutions transforming the country’s transport sector.

Key digital tools introduced to streamline operations

During the closing ceremony, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, chair of the steering committee, highlighted the active engagement of all participants throughout the training. He emphasized that several modules covering digital technology and electronic freight management were covered, including:

  • Digital interface access and navigation
  • Electronic freight declaration procedures
  • Carrier management systems
  • Agency and structure configuration
  • System parameterization

The organizers stressed that these digital tools are designed to enhance administrative efficiency and provide real-time monitoring of freight operations across the country.

Strategic shift toward paperless transport management

Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director-General of the steering committee, confirmed that this training focused on familiarizing agents, inspectors, and field officers with the new e-BNFT digital platform. He described the initiative as a fundamental shift from traditional paper-based processes to a fully digitalized system, enabling:

  • Instant issuance and verification of essential documents such as the Mandatory Vehicle Letter and Axle Tax
  • Seamless, contactless processing of freight documents via computer or mobile device

He further underscored the platform’s role in securing state revenue and generating reliable statistical data to support national economic planning. This digital transition aligns with the modernization agenda championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.

Next steps: Implementation and knowledge sharing

Erda called on participants to immediately apply their newly acquired skills, use the platform daily to build mastery, and share their knowledge with colleagues who missed the training. The closing ceremony concluded with a call to sustain momentum in overcoming digitalization challenges within public administration and land transport sectors.
