The Government of Mali announced on Friday the return of its ambassador to Algeria, along with the reopening of its airspace for flights from and to Algeria.
According to a statement by the government of transition in Mali, ‘in the framework of the relaunch of the dynamics of cooperation and friendship between the Republic of Mali and the Democratic People’s Republic of Algeria, the Government of the Republic of Mali decided on the return to Algeria of its extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador.’
The statement also specified that ‘the airspace of Mali is now open to all civilian and military aircraft carrying flights from or to Algeria’.
This decision comes just hours after Algeria announced the reopening of its airspace to Malian aircraft, marking a new step in the normalization of relations between the two countries.
