Pahimi Padacké Albert urges chadian unity and reconciliation ahead of independence day

As Chad prepares to observe its 66th independence anniversary on August 11, 2026, Pahimi Padacké Albert, who leads the Rassemblement national des démocrates tchadiens (RNDT-Le Réveil) and stands as a prominent opposition figure, has issued a heartfelt plea for national unity, appeasement, and reconciliation.

In his address commemorating this significant national holiday, the former Prime Minister conveyed his message to the Chadian populace with profound humility, gravity, and a sense of responsibility.

Pahimi Padacké Albert highlighted that this year’s celebration unfolds against a backdrop of pronounced political tensions and widespread frustrations. He noted, “We commemorate our freedom this year amidst a silent yet palpable climate of political strain, exacerbated by frustrations stemming from a pervasive sense of multidimensional exclusion.”

Responding to this challenging environment, the head of RNDT-Le Réveil passionately advocates for enhanced dialogue and greater openness. He continued, “Today, I once again responsibly appeal for unity, appeasement, a spirit of openness, and the reconciliation of hearts.”

Within his compelling message, Pahimi Padacké Albert directly appealed to the President of the Republic, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, urging him to implement measures designed to bolster national cohesion.

He solemnly declared, “On the cusp of this celebration, I call upon all Chadians, and first among them, the Marshal of Chad, President of the Republic, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno: May decisive actions emerge to overcome feelings of exclusion and further unite our people within the embrace of the Chadian family. May the constitutional resources at the Head of State’s disposal be mobilized to restore freedom to political actors whose rightful place is not in prison. May genuine political openness, built upon sincere, fraternal, and patriotic discussions, consecrate this momentum of appeasement, all while respecting the rich political, cultural, and religious diversities of the nation’s sons and daughters.”
