The newly appointed head of the clarification and restoration commission set up by Maurice Kamto spoke during an interview on Stv.
Pierre Emmanuel Binyam addressed the resignation of Maurice Kamto from his party as he joined Manidem and was nominated as a candidate for the 2026 presidential election – a candidacy that was ultimately rejected.
“Maurice Kamto’s resignation from the party was not a departure in the sense of turning his back on the party. We sent him to carry out a mission. Now, after what happened, he has returned. We asked him to come back and finish his term,” Binyam stated.
The member of the Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (Mrc) said Kamto’s elimination was a real ordeal for party members.
“The rejection of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy deeply affected us. We were profoundly marked by the elimination of our candidate from this election, especially since all polls showed him as the clear winner nationally and internationally,” Binyam added.
