The already tense standoff between the Pastef party and the Kiiraay group shows no signs of easing. With no referee in sight to call time, fresh revelations continue to fly between both sides, each one claiming to possess insider knowledge about the other’s actions.

Dr Abdourahmane Diouf, Minister of Petroleum and Energy, recently took to the airwaves on RS1 during Migui Marième Ndiaye’s program to address the controversial issue of political funds. He disclosed that Ousmane Sonko had access to a staggering 1.77 billion CFA francs in secret funds while serving as Prime Minister. But the minister didn’t stop there.

He went on to reveal that after exhausting the allocated political fund envelope, Ousmane Sonko allegedly requested an additional top-up. Yet critical questions remain unanswered: Was this request granted? And more importantly, where did this sensitive information originate? Only the President of the Republic and the Minister of Budget would have had access to such data if, indeed, it holds any truth.
