Unexpected confrontation at Keur Gorgui residence sparks political appeal
An unusual confrontation unfolded at the Keur Gorgui residence in Dakar, where a high-stakes meeting of the PASTEF political bureau was underway at the home of its leader, Ousmane Sonko.
The gathering, attended by journalists stationed outside, took an unexpected turn when Mamadou Goumbala arrived uninvited. His sudden appearance drew immediate attention from those gathered in front of the residence.
Standing before the cameras, Goumbala delivered a politically charged message, urging an end to the escalating tensions between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko. He emphasized that disagreements at the highest levels of government should not overshadow the urgent needs of the Senegalese people.
« Leaders must prioritize the daily struggles of citizens, » he declared, stressing the importance of focusing on pressing social and economic concerns rather than internal political rivalries.
Goumbala called for unity between the two key figures, warning that their continued disagreements could undermine public stability. « The citizens elected them to alleviate suffering, not to engage in political calculations, » he stated firmly.
He also proposed broader consultation mechanisms to address internal divisions within the ruling majority, arguing that a unified approach is essential for effective governance. « The people deserve concrete results, not political infighting, » he added.
