Government Minister Unveils Pastef’s Internal Struggles

In a candid interview on Radio Sénégal Internationale, Dr Abdourahmane Diouf, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum and a founding member of the KIIRAAY party, exposed the deep divisions plaguing the Pastef movement. His remarks shed light on the escalating tensions between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the party’s leader, Ousmane Sonko, while placing full responsibility on Pastef for the unfolding crisis.

The minister did not mince words when addressing the fractures within the coalition. He accused Pastef of betraying the president’s trust by deliberately undermining his leadership. According to Dr Diouf, President Faye had consistently upheld his commitments, only to face disloyalty from his own party members. “The president has remained unwavering in his dedication to fulfilling the promises made to the people,” he stated. “It is Pastef and its leadership that have chosen to isolate and betray him, rendering his mandate ungovernable.”

Dr Diouf also addressed the resignations of former government colleagues, emphasizing that they had voluntarily stepped down rather than being forced out.
