Speaking during an appearance on Infos Matin on TFM, he emphasized that ongoing friction at the highest levels of government could stall critical initiatives aimed at economic and social advancement.

« This situation pains me deeply, » Mboup confessed. « I had decided to step away from politics entirely because what I witnessed was not what I believed in. The only campaign I ever joined was for Ousmane Sonko during the legislative elections, and I remain committed to the ideals we shared then. »

He went on to stress the importance of unity between Diomaye Faye and Sonko, warning that a rift between them could derail the country’s development agenda. « When leaders are divided, nothing moves forward. Right now, Senegal is at a standstill, and that must change, » Mboup stated.

Despite his past alignment with Sonko, Mboup clarified his neutral stance in the current political turmoil. « I do not belong to either camp—neither Faye’s nor Sonko’s. However, if President Diomaye reaches out to support Kaolack’s development projects, I will gladly collaborate. But I will not join his political party, » he explained.

The businessman-turned-mayor underscored his dedication to tangible progress, particularly in education and local infrastructure. « All I ask is for Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko to work together in harmony so that I can return to what I do best—seeking partnerships and investing in our daaras to uplift communities, » he added.
