The DRC confirmed its 17th Ebola outbreak on May 15, months after the initial cases emerged—a delay that has allowed the virus to spread unchecked. Health officials warn the situation is worsening at an alarming rate, with the WHO calling for an immediate surge in containment efforts to curb further transmission.
Collaboration with leadership to strengthen containment
During his visit, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus will meet with President Félix Tshisekedi to discuss coordinated strategies. The discussions aim to align national and international resources, ensuring rapid deployment of medical teams, vaccines, and logistical support to the most affected regions.
