Chad advances digital education transformation with national strategy validation

The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Vocational Training convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, to validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report. This critical document will shape the future of Chad’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector by serving as the foundation for a comprehensive National Digital Transformation Strategy.

This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by key international partners including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. The goal is to modernize Chad’s TVET sector by integrating sustainable digital solutions that prepare learners for emerging job markets and technological advancements.

The preliminary assessment engaged over 200 stakeholders from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (TVTCs) and supporting institutions. Through extensive field missions and digital data collection, the study covered all academic regions of Chad, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the sector’s digital readiness.

Key challenges and opportunities

Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics and Digitalization, emphasized the strategic importance of digital transformation in aligning TVET systems with evolving technological demands and new career pathways. During the opening session, he highlighted both progress and persistent hurdles, including governance inefficiencies, limited digital infrastructure, connectivity gaps, unreliable power supply, inadequate teacher training, and the slow integration of digital competencies in curricula.

The validated report will guide the development of a five-year action plan (2026–2030) aimed at creating a modern, high-performing TVET system in Chad. The strategy seeks to bridge the skills gap, enhance employability, and position Chad as a leader in digital vocational education across the region.
