FC Nantes condemns pitch invasion after turbulent Toulouse match

Following Sunday’s abandoned match against Toulouse after a pitch invasion by supporters, FC Nantes has issued a strongly worded statement condemning the incidents.
While the French Football League (LFP) reviews the abandoned match, FC Nantes has taken a firm stance in a statement released Monday. The club emphasized that “despite understanding the frustration and distress caused by a difficult season and relegation, the club’s values, history, and identity cannot be compromised by such acts and behavior.”
The club condemned the presence of masked individuals on the pitch, which created an intimidating and tense atmosphere. “A football stadium must remain a popular, festive, and safe space for everyone,” the statement continued.
Nantes calls for unity, calm, and respect
The club expressed gratitude to the “many supporters who remained calm despite the circumstances,” as well as security teams and authorities who were mobilized throughout the evening. FC Nantes pledged “full cooperation with authorities, the LFP, and state services to ensure all events are thoroughly investigated and responsibilities are established.”
The club concluded by calling for “unity, calm, and respect to prepare for the upcoming season in the best possible conditions.”
