Gabon economic forum returns with focus on public-private dialogue

I want tomorrow’s FEG to be known not just for defending businesses, but above all for making them succeed.

That was the wish expressed by Alain Claude Kouakoua, president of the Fédération des Entreprises du Gabon (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès.

This gathering brings together decision-makers and international partners, serving as a platform aimed at addressing Gabon’s economic challenges.

Speaking pragmatically, the FEG head noted that no country has ever developed without strong companies. For him, businesses are not peripheral actors—they are the engine of growth.

For his part, Vice-President of the Republic Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier stressed the government’s understanding and support for the private sector: “The state will do its part to ensure that the cleanup of public finances allows for timely payment of what is owed to private companies.

His speech conveyed a strong ambition: “building a diversified economy, less dependent on raw materials and more oriented toward industrialisation.”

This forum thus represents a robust dialogue aimed at advancing Gabon’s economic challenges and objectives.
