Morocco and Gambia deepen strategic partnership after Barrow’s key message in Rabat
Diplomatic relations between Morocco and Gambia reached new heights of cooperation in Rabat this week. The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, welcomed his Gambian counterpart, Sering Modou Njie, who arrived as a special envoy carrying a letter from President Adama Barrow addressed directly to King Mohammed VI.
The meeting underscored the strong communication between the two heads of state and marked a significant step in reinforcing their bilateral alliance.
Explicit gratitude for Morocco’s socio-economic support
Following the meeting, the Gambian Foreign Minister addressed the media to convey his government’s and people’s deep appreciation to the Moroccan monarch. Njie emphasized the consistent support Morocco has provided to Gambia’s socio-economic development, noting tangible progress through bilateral agreements and strategic projects benefiting local communities.
These initiatives are closely aligned with the strategic guidelines of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad.

During his remarks, the Gambian minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening cooperation across mutually beneficial sectors. He highlighted that current relations are not only exemplary but also rooted in values of solidarity, brotherhood, and mutual interest, reflecting the shared vision of Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow for the prosperity of both nations.
