In a sharp critique of recent political rhetoric, Ibrahima Thiam, leader of the ACT party, has publicly condemned statements made by Ousmane Sonko, leader of PASTEF, describing them as a threat to national unity.

In an opinion piece titled “Amalgamation as Strategy: Sonko’s Latest Misstep”, Ibrahima Thiam argued that the remarks attributed to Ousmane Sonko were not merely controversial but amounted to an unfounded attack on Touba and, by extension, the Mouride community.

The ACT president emphasized that such statements do not contribute to constructive dialogue but instead rely on sensationalism, shock value, and divisive language. He stressed that in a functioning democracy, responsibility must be individual, not collective. Therefore, implying or directly accusing an entire city and religious community of involvement in illicit activities represents a serious political misstep.

Ibrahima Thiam further accused Ousmane Sonko of employing populist tactics, where provocative soundbites replace reasoned debate and media spectacle trumps substance.
