The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, has conveyed his deepest condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the spiritual leader of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, which occurred this Thursday, July 9, 2026.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Sonko paid tribute to the late religious figure, extending his sympathies to the bereaved family, the General Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the entire Senegalese people.
« I was deeply moved and saddened to learn of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké,» Sonko wrote. « His role as Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo was one of immense spiritual guidance and unwavering devotion.»
The National Assembly leader also reflected on his personal encounters with the late guide during visits to Guinguinéo. « On multiple occasions, I had the honor of meeting him during my travels to the region. Each time, his warmth, hospitality, and kindness left a lasting impression on me and those accompanying me,» he recalled.
In this moment of profound grief, Sonko extended his « most sincere condolences » to the late leader’s family, the General Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, the religious community of Guinguinéo, and all Senegalese citizens.
« May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into eternal paradise,» he concluded.
